No Shows

When a patient fails to show up for an appointment, an appointment slot was wasted. This means that a sick patient was unable to get an appointment. For this reason, no-shows are taken quite seriously. Three no-shows are grounds for dismissal from the practice.

Showing up late puts the schedule behind. This results in subsequent patients having to wait longer to see the doctor. For this reason, patients who show up late may be turned away and asked to reschedule at another time.

If a patient needs to cancel an appointment, but waits until the last minute to do so, it is the same as if the patient had not shown up for the appointment, since we do not have enough time to schedule another patient in that slot. Therefore, patients should cancel their appointments at least 3 business hours before the time of the appointment. Any cancellation less than 3 business hours before the time of the appointment is considered a no-show.
